Florentin Pogba, brother of Paul Pogba, is close to moving to Atlanta United.

The 28-year-old defender has spent most of his career in Ligue 1, though he was most recently on trial with Elche in Spain.

Pogba has made 21 international appearances for Guinea.

Neymar has been ruled out for up to 10 weeks with a right foot injury suffered on January 23.

He will miss both legs of Paris Saint-Germain's Champions League round of 16 tie against Manchester United.

Neymar was injured while playing against Strasbourg last Wednesday in the French Cup but will not require surgery.

A PSG statement read: "On Tuesday evening Paris Saint-Germain gathered together a group of world-renowned medical experts at the Ooredoo Training Centre to carry out a thorough review of the injury to Neymar Jr.'s right foot, sustained against RC Strasbourg in the Coupe de France round of 16 match on Jan. 23.

"After detailed analysis by the specialists, a consensus was reached of a conservative treatment of Neymar Jr.'s injury to the fifth right metatarsal. Informed of this recommendation, Paris Saint-Germain's Brazilian international striker agreed with this protocol. As a result, Neymar Jr. is expected to return to the field within 10 weeks.

"Paris Saint-Germain sends its strongest support and encouragement to Neymar Jr. to overcome this injury, with the courage and determination that the player has always shown."

Monchi is one of the contenders to become the next technical director of Arsenal.

Unai Emery was complimentary of Monchi when asked about his candidacy. 

“I worked very well with him in Sevilla for three and a half years and my relationship with him is good,” Emery said. “He is a good person and a good professional. I can say he is working in Roma and this issue is the club’s responsibility.”

James Rodriguez has rejected a move from Bayern Munich and will stay with the club until at least the end of the season.

James has six months left on a two-year loan from Real Madrid, but could extend his stay with Bayern.

Arsenal and Napoli have been interested in James.

Andy Robertson has signed a five-year deal with Liverpool.

Robertson joined Liverpool from Hull 18 months ago on a £8 million transfer.

Robertson follows Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mané, Roberto Firmino and Joe Gomez who have who have all signed new contracts in the last six months.

“I hope to achieve success as a team over the course of this new deal,” Robertson told liverpoolfc.com. “This club demands trophies and too long has probably passed without trophies. So I hope to help bring another couple to this club and help push in that direction because the fans demand it and the club demands it, so that’s what we aim to give.

“We came close [reaching the Europa League and League Cup finals in 2016 and Champions League final last year] but it’s about taking that next step and hopefully getting a winner’s medal around your neck. As soon as the club came to me, it was a no-brainer for me – I want to stay here, so as soon as they put an offer on the table it was signed as quickly as that.”

Barcelona is prepared to sell Malcom during the January transfer window if they receive an offer of at least €41 million ($47 million).

Barcelona paid €41 million for Malcom last summer.

Malcom was set to join Serie A side Roma from Bordeaux until Barca swooped in with an eleventh-hour bid.

Ernesto Valverde, however, didn't want the player.

Malcom has made just 10 appearances in all competitions, with six of them coming as a substitute.

Atlanta United have signed Josef Martinez to a five-year contract extension.

Martinez was MLS MVP last season and has scored 54 goals in 60 MLS matches.

"This means a lot to me because of the affection that the fans have shown me, that the fans show all of the players. It's unique," Martinez said on Wednesday in a release on the club's official website.

Chelsea have become increasingly confident of their chances in signing Gonzalo Higuain from AC Milan.

Higuain is on loan with AC Milan from Juventus.

Higuain prefers a move to Chelsea to reunite with Maurizio Sarri.

Higuain feels Milan intend to renege on a promise to sign him permanently for £31 million at the end of the season.

Chelsea would loan out Alvaro Morata if they secure a deal for Higuain.

Sven Mislintat will leave his post with Arsenal as head of recruitment.

Mislintat was initially appointed in November 2017 by Ivan Gazidis, with the idea that his role would evolve into that of a technical director as the club aimed to refresh its operation once they moved on from the Arsene Wenger era.

Before moving to London he spent many years at Dortmund, where he helped in the development of Shinji Kagawa, Robert Lewandowski, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Ousmane Dembélé.

Mislintat was heavily involved in the recruitment of Aubameyang a year ago. 

Petr Cech will retire at the end of the current season.

Cech won four Premier League titles, four FA Cups, the Champions League and the Europa League during a hugely successful 11-year spell with Chelsea. He moved to Arsenal in 2015 and went onto win another FA Cup in 2017.

“This is my 20th season as a professional player and it is 20 years since I signed my first professional contract, so it feels like the right time to announce that I will retire at the end of this season," wrote Cech on Twitter.

“Having played 15 years in the Premier League and won every single trophy possible, I feel like I have achieved everything I set out to achieve. I will continue to work hard at Arsenal to hopefully win one more trophy this season, then I am looking forward to seeing what life holds for me off the pitch.”
